The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board endorses and encourages the community’s participation in the use of its facilities and resources.

It is the policy of the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board that its facilities will be made available for community use for the mutual benefit of students and the community, in a manner that is both fair and equitable on a cost recovery basis, in accordance with Board Policy (3E:13) - Authorization for Use of School Facilities.

School facilities and resources shall be made available during the school year through the issuance of rental contracts.

Community Use of Schools Program

In recognition of the many benefits associated with community use of school space the "Community Use of Schools program" has been developed by the Ministry of Education. This initiative supports access to school space outside of school hours for not-for-profit community groups. Not-for-profit user groups qualify for reduced rates under the program. All Huron-Perth Catholic District schools are available through the permit process. A complete list of schools, including addresses is available by clicking here.

What you need to do:

  1. User groups must fill out the appropriate application forms, which are available at all school facilities, in the Principal's Office and on this website (see Community Use of Schools - Permit Application).
  2. Completed applications are to be submitted to the Principal, following all the applicable rules and regulations that accompany the application form. The principal will process the application, and advise the applicant if the facility requested is available.
  3. Once an application is approved, a rental contract will be issued and the applicant will be invoiced with the applicable fees, as per Board Policy – Rate Schedules for Use of Facilities.

Factors to note:

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, and an individual of 18 years of age or older must be in attendance for the duration of the rental contract.
  • No rental contracts will be available during Professional Activity Days, Christmas Break, March Break, Easter Monday, statutory holidays, and the summer period, except for rental contracts to carry out religious services. (Municipal use may be allowed with fees as determined).
  • Rental contracts will not be granted for the use of school facilities during the two weeks prior to the end of the school year, regularly scheduled maintenance projects, two weeks prior to the school year commencing and during the first week of school.
  • No school will be used for permit use where a custodian is not available.
  • All rental contract holders shall carry liability insurance of at least $2 million and name the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board as Additional Insured.
