Yvonne is helping to raise rare and heritage breed pigs on her family’s farm just north of Sebringville ON. In doing so, she plays an important role in supplying specialty pork products to some of Ontario’s most renowned restaurants, including the Old Mill in Ancaster, and Rundles in Stratford. Yvonne attended both St. Patrick’s School (Kinkora) and St. Ambrose, before heading to St. Michael Catholic Secondary School. Upon graduation, she was asked to take over some of her parents’ duties on the farm. Skills she learned at St. Mike’s, such as time management, effective communication and computer skills, turned out to be invaluable. Yvonne also learned to be open to new challenges. Her teachers helped Yvonne to feel at home in school, and because of them, she still feels part of the community. “Those that helped me still keep in touch, asking me to come back and visit,” says Yvonne. “I feel like I’m still a part of the school and that the faith we shared strengthened our connection. As far as I’m concerned, my Catholic high school experience was the greatest opportunity ever!” Read More...
