Catholic Trustees Elections

Catholic Trustees play a key leadership role in setting the strategic direction for their local Catholic school boards and supporting efforts to enhance academic achievement and well-being of students. The following Catholic Trustee Election Resources are available for Catholic school boards and their communities. The resources below come from the Ontario Catholic Student Trustee Association and the Ontario Education Services Corporation (OESC). OESC, on behalf of the four school board/trustee associations, has developed a series of resources to support trustee candidates and communities in the upcoming October 24, 2022, Municipal and School Board Elections.

Municipal Election 2022 Key Dates

  • May 1, 2022 – Nomination and Campaign Period Begins
  • August 19, 2022 – Nomination Day (Last Day to be Nominated)
  • August 19, 2022 – Final Day for Withdrawal of Candidacy
  • October 24, 2022 – Voting Day
  • November 15, 2022 – School Board Term of Office Begins
  • January 3, 2023 – Campaign Period Ends
  • March 31, 2023 – Financial Filing Deadline
  • November 14, 2026 – School Board Term of Office Ends

    Voting Information for Catholic Ratepayers

    To make the process of verifying support easier for voters, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) has created voterlookup.ca.

    Through voterlookup.ca, all Ontario residents can check to ensure that their information is accurately reflected on MPAC’s Preliminary List of Electors for the municipal and school board elections.

    1. Visit voterlookup.ca to confirm the information and follow the easy steps published on the website.
    2. Make corrections as necessary. Only separate school supporters can vote for Catholic trustees.

    The Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association (OCSTA) provides the provincial voice, leadership and service for elected Catholic school trustees to promote and protect publicly funded Catholic education in Ontario. Ontario is enriched by a publicly funded Catholic education system governed by locally elected Catholic school trustees who serve with faith, commitment and compassion.

    The Ontario Education Services Corporation (OESC) provides Ontario school boards with first-in-class education and business services. They offer boards effective and cost-saving solutions with a focus on the success of every student in Ontario’s publicly funded education system. They also work with education partners such as the four provincial school board/trustee associations and the Ministry of Education.

    Ontario Municipal & School Board Elections

    Election Day is Monday, October 24, 2022.

    This site features information about Ontario’s School Board Trustees and the upcoming 2022 School Board Elections. The Ontario Education Services Corporation (OESC) created this site in partnership with Ontario’s school board/trustee associations as a resource for trustee candidates and voters.

    Developed and managed by the Ontario Education Services Corporation – OESC) the Ontario Municipal & School Board Elections website includes an overview of the role of trustees, how to become a trustee, how to vote, education in Ontario, as well as archived 2018 and 2014 election information and results.
